I was born in Taipei, Taiwan. At the age of 5 my mother, a renowned piano teacher in Taiwan, gave me my first piano lesson. My mother teaches her students to cultivate an appreciation for the beautiful things in life. I think, the most valuable lesson that my mother and music taught me is to carry beauty and grace in one's self and try to reflect that into your surroundings. This could be the beauty in the harmony of relationships, the beauty in fine cuisine, the beauty in home making, the beauty in time-management, or even the beauty in gardening. One can find beauty in every corner of the world but one needs to learn how to look for it. "Taste cannot be taught, it can only be cultivated,” one of my old Austrian professors once said. My mission as an educator is to provide a learning framework where the cultivation of taste, ability, and confidence can take place.
